Who is Euronext?

July 31, 2017 at 6:38 pm Comments are Disabled

EuroEuronext is a European stock exchange that is located in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Lisbon and Paris. It was formed in 2000 after a merger of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, Brussels Stock Exchange, and Paris Bourse. They went on to become one of the world’s largest exchanges in 2002 after acquiring the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange and the Portuguese stock exchange, Bolsa de Valores de Lisboa e Porto. They have more than 4,000 listed companies and are considered to be one of the world’s most liquid exchange groups. Euronext have this to say about their role in the marketplace:

“Amid rising demand for new and diverse sources of capital and solutions for the transfer of risk, and growing pressure for more transparency and supervision, Euronext’s unique portfolio of market services means it is ideally positioned to play a role in the future development of European markets.”

What’s the latest?

Earlier this year, in March 2017, Euronext made a $10 million investment in liquidity discovery start-up, Algomi. Together, they are embarking on a ten year plan that will develop Euronext’s fixed income ambitions and push their geographical spread into North America and Asia.

What is Euronext Synapse?

Algomi and Euronext have joined forces to create Euronext Synapse, which increases liquidity in the market through technological innovation. It protects the anonymity of traders who are looking for opportunities to avoid telegraphing their movements to competitors. Even as a deal is being worked out, no identity data is exchanged until the last possible moment. This means that, if it does not work out, no breach of the integrity of the trade has taken place, so it can be offered in other ways to different buyers. This level of protection is key to getting traders to adopt the latest technologies.

With the onset of MiFID II, Euronext Synapse is also appealing to companies because its operation assists with compliance. Many companies claim they will not meet the January 2018 implementation deadline due to the complexity involved in applying the new regulations, so software that assists with this could be the answer. Euronext Synapse tracks the genesis and evolution of a deal in a way that can be traced at a later date, if required.

Choosing an FBO Management System: What to Take Into Account

April 28, 2017 at 1:00 am Comments are Disabled

FBO ManagementThe aviation industry is one of the most coveted and competitive fields today. It is an expansive field that requires the management of huge projects and a diverse pool of professionals. The daily operations in the aviation industry, from the actual flights to the fixed-based operations or FBOs, are highly technical and precise. These require great skill and talent, as well as the right tools for the job.

With the advancements in technology came the rise of digitalization. Many industries have shifted to automated and digital processes. The aviation industry is no exception. In recent years, cloud-based and full operational solutions became popular. But with the many options in the market today, how can you tell which FBO management system will suit your business?

Schedule Management

In the aviation industry, precision and timeliness are not preferred – they are absolute necessities. Flight delays can cost millions, even billions of dollars. A good FBO system should have a precise schedule management feature, as well as a real-time scheduling option.

It is preferable for the system to have the ability to prioritize activities based on a pre-set list of factors. Anything less would only mean more work and even more hours for the management, defeating the goal of digitalization.

Security Access and Accountability

FBO data is confidential and requires the highest degree of security. It should not be easily accessible. Traditional transactional and operational solutions offer two layers of security through limited keys. For FBOs, however, security must be tighter with restricted remote control access and even more limited access to data. The FBO management system should be able to keep track of the access, complete with time, IDs, and activity tracking.

Database Capacity and Storage Management

Among the overlooked features of FBO apps and systems are the database capacity or storage management and the cloud option. Due to the susceptibility of clouds to a security breach, most companies try to remove this feature. But it is an important feature that allows seamless back-up and data recovery in times of crisis or breaches. There should also be enough database capacity in order to maintain the efficiency of operations.

The options for management systems are limited at this point, but making a definitive choice is still quite challenging. Consider these important factors and you will be able to choose the right management tool for your operations.

Pests in Your House: Practical Tips to Keep Them Away

March 30, 2017 at 7:29 pm Comments are Disabled

House Pests Rats, ants, and cockroaches: these are the three most common house pests in New Zealand. Conservation authorities even consider some of these to be threats to the natural environment.

Fortunately, there are many ways to get rid of them in your house because they have many things in common. All three of them need access to food, water, and a dark place to build their nests on. If you remove these, you get rid of them all. It is like shooting not just two but three birds with one stone.

For major infestations, contact pest management services to take care of the problem. However, you can easily deal with smaller problems simply by keeping your house clean and unfriendly to pests. Here are other suggestions:

Keep the floor clean at all times

Sweep and vacuum your floors regularly, especially the kitchen floor, to remove any food particles that may have fallen off the dining table or countertop. If you are using a vacuum cleaner, make sure to empty the vacuum bag to keep cockroaches away from it.

Dry out wet areas

Leaking pipes and drains in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry areas can create the perfect breeding area for bugs and insects. Do a search for these leaks and contact a plumber to repair them immediately. Make sure the area is dry and spill-free afterwards.

Store all food away

Food such as pasta, cereals, and flours do not need to be refrigerated, but you still need to put them away properly to keep the pests away. Use glass airtight containers and put them on neat, tidy, clutter-free cupboards and shelves.

When it comes to pest control, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. All you really need to do to keep the pests away is to keep your house neat, clean, and orderly.

A construction worker holding his hardhat According to figures from Safe Work Australia, more than a quarter of construction deaths were due to falls. The majority of these cases involved mobile ramps, stairways, scaffolding, and ladders. Here are some ways on how to improve workplace safety in construction sites:

1. Identify all the workplace hazards at the construction site.

A thorough walkthrough of the construction site allows you to identify the off-limits areas and workplace hazards that you need to safeguard. The identification of the areas and hazards will help you better train and inform your crew about the workplace safety.

2. Install a fence for construction sites.

Apart from protecting your actual construction site, installing fencing materials for hire for also protect your staff and site visitors. Superfence explains that a temporary fence ensures that people don’t go wandering in highly dangerous and off-limits areas where they can get hurt. Fences are great additions to ensuring construction safety.

3. Make sure all personnel are wearing complete protective gear.

One of the best practices in every construction site is ensuring that all personnel and visitors are wearing the proper safety gears at all times. Moreover, making sure that your staff knows the importance of each item is crucial. For instance, wearing a hard hat could define the difference between a fatal blow to the head or a minor head injury.

4. Regularly check scaffolding, ladders and other construction equipment.

Falls happen a lot on construction sites. To help lower the risk of falls from height, make sure that the scaffoldings, ladders, and other construction elements are erected and used properly. A regular walkthrough of the site can help spot any potential risks in the whole duration of the site work.

As an employer, the safety of your employees is your responsibility. Employ these recommendations to help improve the safety of your people at work.

Neigborhood Cleanup in UtahWhether you’re a small business owner who wants to give back to your community, or just a good citizen who wants to help, one of the best ways to do that is by organizing a neighborhood cleanup. Here are some suggestions to increase your chances of success.

Schedule Early

This is something that you shouldn’t rush. Plan it well in advance, maybe a month before your target date. Meet with your neighborhood or homeowners’ association, the volunteer group, school or whatever organization, or even the general public that will be participating in this cleanup so you can start pooling ideas. Vote on a date. Spring is a good time. When you’ve decided on a date, schedule with your hauler.

Do Some Research

Know what you can about the target area for cleanup. This will give you an idea of the kind of cleanup you’ll be doing. For example, it can help you decide whether you need remediation; Utah companies can help you with such, but you should schedule early with them, says an expert from

Know What You Need

Here is a list of what you and your volunteers will be needing for your cleanup drive:

  • Safety vests and heavy duty work gloves
  • Insect repellent to protect volunteers from bites
  • Trash bags and buckets (for sharp objects)
  • First aid kits
  • Rakes and shovels and other tools for cleaning
  • Refreshments
  • Cellphones or radios

Volunteers can use whatever they already have in their garden sheds, such as wheelbarrows and grass cutters. Simply remind them to take care of their own tools so they don’t lose them.

Designate a photographer. Your team leaders can also act as the photographers for their respective team. They can use their smartphone cameras. If you have a community website, these photos should appear on it. Designate someone to write a short article regarding your activity.

For further documentation, use a logbook for listing your volunteers’ names, phone numbers, and addresses. This is also where you write down the minutes of your meetings, suggestions, and items that you need.

A neighborhood cleanup shouldn’t be too hard to organize. It is, after all, for the good of everyone in your community.

Efficient Tank Design and Construction with the API 650 Standard

April 22, 2016 at 6:29 am Comments are Disabled

Safety Regulations While global environmental hazards such as climate change and changes in ecosystems are a result of large-scale greenhouse effect, other hazards that are also major concern include industrial effluents, accidental leakages, and fuel fires like the case in Pennsylvania when over 18,000 barrels of oil flowed into Ohio River from an accidental oil spillage into the Monongahela River.

Incidents like these have prompted the need for the assurance of safety and environmental soundness, from statutory and local governments and respective industries, by ensuring all storage facilities are built within safety regulations. The tank industry, for example, affirms this requirement by ensuring tank engineers design and build all liquid storage tanks within the API (American Petroleum Institute) 650 Standard.

API 650 and Tank Construction

Heartland Tank Services noted that it is important to check for API 650 certification in all your storage tanks. API certification covers the construction of aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) for all liquid products in the oil and gas industry. This comprehensive design of storage tanks follows consistent engineering methodologies to help reduce chances of leakages and the risk of fire accidents.

Additionally, the API standard has found applications in the global market as an international standard for general AST construction since its inception in 1961. Customers can now file, as their right, having their tanks built within this standard.

API 650 for Businesses

If you have an enterprise that runs on ASTs, profit optimization is pivotal to ensuring the success of your business. Equally, environmental integrity and industrial safety are critical factors you need to consider. By following the API Standard 650, you ensure proper structuring of your tanks within a reasonable budget.

So why not go for storage tanks that give you value for your investment? Ensure your tanks are API 650 verified to enjoy all the advantages that come with tanks built to this standard.
